Crystal Cole Matson joined OAACC in September of 2016. Prior to joining OAACC, she was the lead Staff Attorney for the Community Empowerment and Economic Justice Program Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area (LCCR). At LCCR, she worked to advance economic justice and civil rights by providing direct services to entrepreneurs and small business owners. Along with providing legal counsel and transactional services, Crystal counseled businesses on risk management strategies to help their businesses thrive.
Prior to joining the Lawyers’ Committee, Crystal served as the Principal Attorney of Chrysalis Legal, a boutique business law firm in Oakland. She has also served as a Legal Research Attorney with the Superior Court of California-County of San Francisco and clerked at Gap Inc. in the real estate legal group.
Crystal is a native Texan, but moved to Oakland in 2006 to pursue a role with Wells Fargo, where she worked for almost four years prior to attending law school. Her undergraduate degree is from Spelman College and she received her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law. She is married to George Matson, Jr. and has two dogs, Xena and Chase.
